Truly Understanding Wolfdogs: Highway Wolf Spotlights Southern Ohio Wolf Sanctuary
San Francisco, CA | March 18, 2026… Highway Wolf’s Howling for a Cause initiative continues on with Southern Ohio Wolf Sanctuary (SOWS), a rescue and education-focused sanctuary located in Chesapeake, OH. SOWS was founded in 2014 and is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to giving wolfdogs the second chance they deserve by providing proper care, veterinary support, and a safe place to call home.
SOWS’s mission is simple but powerful: to help save the lives of wolfdogs. Many of the rescue animals arrive in difficult conditions, and the team is especially passionate about helping those who have been neglected, abused, or overlooked, the ones who feel the world has given up on them. Through patience, care, and compassion, they work to rebuild trust and give each animal the life they deserve. Alongside their rescue efforts, SOWS is also deeply committed to education, offering free educational events, sharing information about the differences between wolves and wolfdogs, and helping dispel common misconceptions through school visits, community events, and special appearances.
“We are honored to have Highway Wolf spotlight our organization in our mission to help bring awareness to both wolves and wolfdogs,” shares the owner, John Deboard. “It is truly a great honor to see another organization with the same goals and interests as we have.”

Highway Wolf is donating 100% of the proceeds from purchases of their Southern Ohio Wolf Sanctuary 'Protect the Pack' Spotlight T-Shirt directly to the sanctuary. “Southern Ohio Wolf Sanctuary is doing the kind of work that truly makes a difference,” says Amber Morris, creative partner of Highway Wolf. “Their dedication to rescuing and caring for wolfdogs that have been neglected or misunderstood speaks to the heart of what this initiative is about. It’s inspiring to see organizations like SOWS not only provide a safe place for these animals, but also educate the public and help others see them in a new light.” Highway Wolf invites music fans and wildlife advocates to support Southern Ohio Wolf Sanctuary by getting involved, spreading the word, or contributing directly to their mission.
