Keeping Wolves Wild: Highway Wolf Shares Endangered Wolf Center’s Story

San Francisco, CA, July 15, 2025… Highway Wolf’s Howling for a Cause is proud to spotlight the work of the Endangered Wolf Center, a nonprofit based just outside St. Louis that has been at the forefront of wolf conservation for over five decades. Founded in 1971 by Marlin Perkins and his wife, Carol Perkins, the Center is globally recognized for its leadership in preserving critically endangered canid species, including Mexican wolves, American red wolves, and African painted dogs. Led by Mick Hellman and creative partners Tal Morris and Amber Morris, the Highway Wolf team is honoring the Center’s efforts to combine science, sanctuary, and community education in service of keeping wild wolves in the wild. 

Every Mexican wolf currently living in the wild today can trace its lineage back to the Endangered Wolf Center. Through breeding and pup-fostering programs, the Center plays a crucial role in rebuilding wild wolf populations. Their educational outreach, including field trips, camps, and their signature wolf howl events, bridges the gap between people and predators. Visitors can also get involved through special tours, symbolic adoptions, and community programs.

Highway Wolf is donating 100% of the proceeds from purchases of the Endangered Wolf Center “Protect the Pack” Spotlight T-Shirt to the sanctuary. “The Endangered Wolf Center’s dedication to preserving endangered wolves demonstrates how science, education, and community can come together to inspire hope and action,” says Mick Hellman. “This collaboration highlights their vital role in saving wolves while building meaningful connections between people and the natural world.
