KC Johns Announces Intoxicating Country Rock Anthem “Bad Perfume”
Out February 6 and Releasing to Radio February 2
NASHVILLE, TN | January 13 — It’s messy, intoxicating, and honest…Country-rock powerhouse KC Johns is kicking off the new year with her bold new single “Bad Perfume,” set to release Friday, February 6, just ahead of Valentine’s Day. Penned by Johns alongside Tim Baumgartner and Tim Angsten, “Bad Perfume” captures both the rush and wreckage of something that felt so right until it didn’t. Blending alternative country and rock swagger into a smoky, dangerous anthem, the track hits with the same sudden punch as the memory it’s built around.
Produced by Smith Curry (Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, and Maren Morris), the song draws from a real-life moment for the Nashville-based singer, where one lingering scent refuses to let go. Johns shares that “It’s about a relationship that hit like lightning and burned just as fast, and how one little spray of perfume can still knock the wind out of you years later.” The lyrics drift through fire-and-ice moments, moving from hypnotizing chemistry to the sting of heartbreak, all sparked by the lingering scent of YSL, making “Bad Perfume” a smoky, unforgettable anthem of love and loss.
Ending 2025 on a high note, KC Johns wrapped a year-long tour with national and international performances at notable festivals and venues, including Dollywood Harvest Festival, Fantasy Fest in Key West, Florida, a tour of Norway, and the UK festivals Country in the Afternoon.
Carrying that momentum into 2026, and will be releasing a series of digital singles leading up to a full album later this year. For more on KC Johns, visit KCJohns.Rocks
