Biography

Every now and then, we all need a break—a feel-good, take-me-away minute when everything is fun, light, and just feels right. We need a little KC Johns.

KC Johns’ music is infectious, with powerhouse pipes that take you on a whiskey-soaked jaunt to your favorite honky-tonk in the best way possible. Think Miranda Lambert meets Sheryl Crow with a touch of Brandi Carlile, KC’s got a voice all her own, and songs that feel like old friends. Her viral 2024 single “Rodeo Queen” kicks off with, “Mama didn’t raise no big city pretty girl…,” a tribute to her mom, a champion barrel racer, and her stepdad, a bull rider. Her latest release, “Break From The Heart,” dropped in February 2025, written on the road with Tim Angsten and Tim Baumgartner.

“Rodeo Queen” has racked up over 900,000 streams and counting, hit #28 on Texas Country radio, and was named a Top 10 song by the Texas Country Music Association. KC’s performed at major events like Texas Motor Speedway, Big As Texas Festival, and Idaho’s HWY 30 Music Fest. “Texas Country is so much fun,” she says. “It’s very genuine, and I felt like ‘Rodeo Queen’ captured my story.”

Born in Memphis, TN and raised in Hernando, Mississippi, KC grew up surrounded by music for as long as she can remember. At 17, she moved to Nashville, one thing led to another and she eventually landed a seven-year gig performing on Carnival Cruise Lines. Later, KC was featured in Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors” at Dollywood and then once again heard the call of the recording/touring artist life, so she took another leap of faith. She returned to Nashville, performing on Broadway and opening for artists like Luke Bryan, Chris Young, and Morgan Wade.

During the pandemic, KC turned to livestreaming and grew a global fanbase, eventually playing shows as far as Norway. In 2022, she released her debut album Thunder. In 2023, KC followed it up with the launch of her own award winning whiskey line, KC Johns’ Thunder Mesquite Smoked Bourbon Whiskey in partnership with Cali Distillery in Glendale, CA. It’s now distributed nationwide and available online at calidistillery.com/thunder.

As 2025 unfolds, KC Johns continues to build momentum with new music, touring across the U.S. and the UK. Her mission stays the same: “I honestly just want to continue going out and meeting wonderful people. I love relating to people through my music.”
