Americana Artist David Starr Announces UK Tour & New Single “Better Me” Out May 10

Tour May 11 - May 28 with Shows in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England

NASHVILLE, TN (April 28, 2022)…Americana artist David Starr announces his new single “Better Me” and his return to the UK for a spring tour May 11 - May 28. Making his way through Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England, Starr will perform 14 shows in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Glasgow, the Isle of Skye, Berrick-upon-Tweed and more. The uptempo single drops May 10, with the world premier on Dublin City FM’s After Midnight with Noel Casey. Driving acoustics and Starr’s signature emotive vocals shine on the track, which touches on themes of redemption and showing up.

“Better Me” was written in the fall of 2021, with some lines Starr has been carrying with him for years. “Ultimately it’s about how to be better and move forward. I think as people we are always striving for that, this is an optimistic take,” Starr shares. “The verse about castles in a far away land was inspired by my tours in Scotland and I can’t wait to be back!”

This run is the first time Starr has toured overseas since 2019. “Connecting with people and playing live shows is my favorite part about being an artist. It’s an honor to get to perform for crowds in the UK and Ireland because of how much they love and support songwriters,” Starr shares. “Even though I’ve never lived in the UK, there’s something about it that feels like coming home every time I’m there.”

Fresh off the release of his critically acclaimed Touchstones album, Starr’s live show will highlight some of his favorite covers from the project including “I’ve Got To Use My Imagination” (Gladys Knight), “These Days” (Jackson Browne), “Drive” (The Cars), and “Magnolia” (J.J. Cale). In addition, he will feature a stacked setlist of originals from his latest projects Beauty & Ruin and The Head & Heart, both produced by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Oates, as well as his 2018 release South & West. Starr will be joined by fellow folk singer/songwriter and Colorado native, Erik Stucky, who will share originals of his own as well as lend his stellar mandolin skills on Starr’s songs.

ABOUT DAVID STARR
David Starr possesses “a compelling voice, something truly special, both accessible and passionate” (Elmore), that has been honed releasing ten albums, touring internationally, and opening shows for esteemed artists such as John Oates (Hall & Oates), Karla Bonoff, The Steel Wheels, Survivor, and more. His latest project, Touchstones, featured a new digital single release every month for one year, culminating in a full album in December 2021. During a year where COVID-19 stopped the world in its tracks, Starr took time to reflect on and experience anew the music that shaped his own, and put his own spin on a number of classics such as "I've Got To Use My Imagination" (Gladys Knight), "Drive" (The Cars), and "These Days" (Jackson Browne). Touchstones follows Starr’s acclaimed February 2020 record, Beauty & Ruin. Produced and arranged by John Oates, the collection of songs was inspired by Of What Was, Nothing Is Left, a novel written by Starr’s grandfather in 1972. Starr’s prestige extends beyond the stage as well, having launched Starr’s Guitars in Little Rock in 1998, then relocating to Cedaredge in 2001. Today, the store is such an institution that Cedaredge proclaimed the musician’s birthday as David Starr Day in 2016. Starr was also instrumental in the 2018 opening of the Grand Mesa Arts & Events Center, an intimate event space brought to fruition through strong community support.
