Highway Wolf Takes On the Twists and Turns of the Open Road with Their New Album, Lone, Never Alone
San Francisco, CA | September 25, 2026… Highway Wolf turns the road into a soundtrack for connection, reflection, love, and memory with the release of their sophomore album, Lone, Never Alone. Available today across all major streaming platforms, the 6-song EP weaves together a year-long conversation about life’s journeys across the boldly reimagined covers and Highway Wolf’s first original single. More than a music project, Highway Wolf is building a community through music, art, and activism, using their platform to support wolf education and advocacy and create meaningful connections between people and the cause they champion.

A year ago, Highway Wolf introduced the project with “Speed of the Sound of Loneliness” and followed soon thereafter with a joyful, brash reimagining of “Werewolves of London.” Lone, Never Alone now completes a full-circle statement from the Bay Area-based project. Across six tracks, Highway Wolf moves seamlessly between familiar songs and their own original work, “No Time for Time", putting their distinctive spin on each while building a cohesive story about life and the experiences that shape us.
Highway Wolf partner, Amber Morris, opens up about the path to the mirrored album title. The project had so many possible names, but landed on one that reflects the duality of our life journeys.
“We kept coming back to ‘Lone, Never Alone’ as a play on the phrase Lone Wolf. Never Alone reinforces the idea that while we might be walking our individual journeys, we are supported by others who encourage us or sometimes test us along the way, but we always walk together.”
That idea carries throughout the album, beginning with “The Tattler” and its message about being true to love, then moving into “Werewolves of London,” bringing a fun and zany energy, before transitioning into “Speed of the Sound of Loneliness,” a soulful song about being on the wrong end of a friend or lover’s bad choices. “Jet Airliner” continues the album’s theme of life’s crossroads, this time whether to seek fame on the road or stay home and build connections. Then Highway Wolf’s first original single, “No Time for Time,” bursts into view, exploring time’s fleeting nature and the desire to retain deep ties to those we love along the byways. The album closes with “Reelin’ In The Years,” a fitting final reflection on the passage of time, memory, and the sometimes tart memories that stay with us.
Notably, today’s release of the full Lone, Never Alone album brings with it the first reveal of Highway Wolf’s version of “The Tattler,” and it is a fitting final jigsaw piece of the album’s sonic journey. Originally credited to George Washington Philips, Ry Cooder, and Russ Titelman, the project carefully layered backing vocals in at just the right moments, blending seamlessly with the lead and adding another dimension to the track’s sense of depth and completion. Mick Hellman, lead vocals and drums, shares the team's reasoning behind their decision to record the cover:
“The opening bass and guitar hook is so iconic and sets up those lyrics so beautifully. And who can disagree with ‘True love can be such a sweet harmony if you do the best that you can?’ We aspire to be that person!”

With Lone, Never Alone, Highway Wolf embraces both the solitude and companionship found along the road. Each song adds another layer to the journey, building toward an album that feels intentional from beginning to end. By the time you have completed that walk through the entire space, you understand the order was an emotional setup and a statement. Even when our paths are uniquely our own, we never truly walk them alone.
