Wreckless Strangers’ New Single, “Dirty Soul,” Sets the Tone for Upcoming EP

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – (JANUARY 23, 2026) Wreckless Strangers, the San Francisco-based sextet known for their rich blend of rock, Americana, soul, and R&B, more colloquially known as ‘Ameri-Cali Rock,’ return with their new single, “Dirty Soul.” The track arrives ahead of the release of their third EP with GRAMMY award-winning producer Dave Way, and is aptly titled Dirty Souls. The singular title mirrors the song’s wild, but intimate focus, while the EP as a whole builds on the band’s storytelling and signature mix of musical genres.

“Dirty Soul” tells the story of a wild spirit riding the edge of self-destruction and the complicated love that surrounds them. It was written by Amber Morris, Joshua Zucker, and the late great Austin de Lone, and arranged by Dave Way, who fosters a level of depth and organic cohesion that firmly establishes Wreckless Strangers in San Francisco’s storied rock ‘n’ roll legacy. Engineer and sound sculptor Sean Beresford was once again on board throughout the tracking process, bringing his unique and formidable touch and energy to every musical moment.

Lyrically, the single explores the delicate balance between holding on and letting go, and the impact that process has on trust and personal growth. “‘Dirty Soul’ is about patience, acceptance, and the courage to love fiercely and unconditionally,” says Amber Morris. “It’s about knowing when to help without risking pushing someone away, and finding that fine line.”

Set for digital release in late March, the new EP, Dirty Souls, sees Wreckless Strangers leaning fully into the sound and spirit that have long defined the band. The EP is their most raw and unfiltered body of work to date, drawing inspiration from the classic rock foundations of the ’70s and ’80s while remaining firmly rooted in their signature blend of Americana, soul, and R&B. The band will celebrate the physical release of Dirty Souls at Sweewater Music Hall on January 31 with alt-gypsy-rock troubadours Beso Negro opening up the show.

The release of “Dirty Soul” on January 23 continues Wreckless Strangers’ creative evolution, balancing familiarity with new possibilities, echoing the untamed spirit of the song’s wild horse.

About Wreckless Strangers

Wreckless Strangers is a collective of friends and musicians carrying the torch for San Francisco’s grand rock ‘n’ roll tradition. Their unique blend of “Ameri-Cali Soul” melds the contemporary blues stylings of Bonnie Raitt and Boz Scaggs; the songwriting sensibilities of Sons of Champlin and Fleetwood Mac; the swashbuckling Americana of the Lost Planet Airmen and Peter Rowan; and the funk of Sly Stone and Tower of Power with a dash of Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane for flavor and unpredictability. With soaring vocal harmonies and burning instrumental improvisation framed in concise and poignant original songwriting, Wreckless Strangers seek to honor and carry forth the brand of free-spirited musical fun and adventure that defines the Bay Area.

The band features Amber Morris on lead vocals; David Noble on lead guitar, lead vocals; Joshua Zucker on bass, vocals; Mick Hellman on drums, vocals; Rob Anderson on guitar, vocals; and Fletcher Nielsen on keys. The band was recently invited to perform live on Nashville’s famed Americana Roots radio station, WMOT, and will perform at NAMM in Southern California in January.
