RiverHeath Recognized for Green Energy Efficient Achievements

Appleton, WI - September 20, 2022 … The RiverHeath Community, located on the Fox River in Appleton, WI has been recognized multiple times for their commitment to sustainable living practices across their properties. From a U.S. Department of Energy grant, to Wisconsin State designations, to the latest honor from the Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, RiverHeath was designed with environmental stewardship at the forefront. The Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, a non-profit based in Appleton, WI that identifies issues and advocates effective policies to protect, restore, and sustain water resources, recently voted RiverHeath as one of their educational stormwater sign winners in recognition of their green energy efforts. Kelly Reyer, Member Coordinator of the Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance applauded RiverHeath’s “commitment to sustainability and stewardship of the Fox River.” The sign will be posted on RiverHeath's property this week for community members to view and learn more about stormwater biofilters.

RiverHeath has always prioritized its eco-friendly mission and provides residents with clean renewable energy sources in each residence. Even their electricity comes from an onsite hydropower facility, operated by Kaukauna Utilities. RiverHeath’s Willow building and event venue, Poplar Hall, sucessfully partnered with the State of Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy program. Focus on Energy works with developers, architects and builders to foster efficient design. The program recently recognized the energy savings strategies implemented at Poplar Hall and the newly opened Willow residential building. RiverHeath’s green efforts also earned them a grant from The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to help fund the construction of a geothermal exchange heating and cooling system which powers the Evergreen and Prairie buildings. RiverHeath will continue to search for innovative design in its next phase.
