October 8, 2025, San Francisco, CA – The Finding Lucinda 2025 Film Screening and Music Tour launched this past weekend with a sold-out premiere at the historic 4 Star Theater in San Francisco as part of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass’ Out of the Park concert series. The event — “A Night of Music, Movies, and Meaning” — celebrated the creative spark and enduring influence of Lucinda Williams, the three-time GRAMMY-winning artist whose songwriting legacy continues to inspire generations.

Benefitting Sweet Relief and the Bay Area Musicians Fund, the evening featured live performances by Lake Charlatans with ISMAY, and special guests Steve Earle, Chuck Prophet, Olivia Wolf, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Elizabeth Lubin. Before the screening, artists performed heartfelt renditions of Williams’ songs, including Earle’s “Sweet Old World” and Prophet’s “Crescent City.”

Following the set, the audience watched the first public screening of Finding Lucinda, the award-winning documentary that follows singer-songwriter ISMAY (Avery Hellman) on a transformative journey, exploring the early life and enduring legacy of Lucinda Williams. Directed by Joel Fendelman (Man on Fire) and featuring cinematography by Rose Bush (Colette), the film showcases rare archival footage, never-before-heard recordings, and interviews with Charlie Sexton, Buddy Miller, Mary Gauthier, and Lucinda Williams herself.

A post-screening Q&A with ISMAY, producer Chuck Prophet, and music supervisor Jonathan McHugh gave audiences insight into the making of the film and its exploration of artistry, self-doubt, and creative courage. The premiere’s success led to two additional screenings at the 4 Star Theater over the weekend, marking a triumphant start to the tour.

The first leg of the tour will continue through late November, with additional shows being announced. Each evening includes a musical performance with ISMAY and guests, the film screening, and a post-show Q&A with ISMAY.  Each city features different musical guests joining ISMAY for the unique event.
