NASHVILLE, DEC 4, 2013 - Today's international comic strip, Nancy, includes a nod to country singer Mandy Barnett and her new album I Can't Stop Loving You: The Songs of Don Gibson. The strip's author, Guy Gilchrist, a fan of the powerhouse vocalist and a musician himself, has included Barnett in the iconic comic strip three times. "I have always been a big fan of Mandy Barnett. I am proud to call her my friend and happy that I am in a position to bring attention to her-she is one of the finest vocalists in this world."
Barnett is riding high after a string of successes including the rave reviews of the Gibson project which are resulting in the album selling out multiple times at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations, her banner 3-nights of performances with the Nashville Symphony, and her beautiful song at the George Jones tribute concert singled out by industry insiders as a highlight.
"This record is special to me because Don was a friend and I promised him I would honor him with this album," Barnett says of this wave of success. "And I love the Nancy comic strip so it is just really thrilling that Guy included me again. "I'm proud to make another appearance alongside Nancy and Sluggo!"
Gilchrist, who resides in the Nashville area, has often embedded his love for music within the strip, honoring artists such as Elvis, The Beatles, Charlie Daniels, Rascal Flatts, Patti Page, George Jones, Don McLean, and many more. A collection of these music-related strips were donated to the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum. They are currently on display as part of the larger, ongoing exhibit, "Nancy Loves Nashville," at the Nashville International Airport, which will run through 2015.
