Baggs Presents HiFi Sessions: Madi Diaz

Latest installment of the high-fidelity live series pairs the acclaimed songwriter's Martin D-28 with the Baggs Anthem pickup system and Para Acoustic DI

NIPOMO, CA, October 8, 2026… Baggs today releases the latest installment of the HiFi Sessions, the high-fidelity live session series that goes behind the scenes with favorite artists for exclusive performances, road stories, and deep dives into the gear that shapes their sound. The latest episode features singer-songwriter Madi Diaz in an intimate acoustic set. The full episode premieres today on YouTube, followed by three single-song performance edits on Friday, October 9.

In HiFi Sessions: Madi Diaz, the singer-songwriter sits down with her Martin D-28 acoustic guitar for a live set of "Heavy Metal," "Why'd You Have to Bring Me Flowers," and "Yes." Between songs, she shares behind-the-scenes stories about her writing and life on the road, including her viral moment with a shattered guitar.

To bring the performance to life, Diaz chose the Baggs Anthem pickup system paired with the Para Acoustic DI, a combination built for clean, natural tone and transparent warmth. The result is an up-close listening experience that lets the songs and the instrument speak for themselves.

"We've been fans of Madi for a long time, and getting her into the studio has been on our wish list. She's a phenomenal songwriter and singer, but what really hooked us was her sharp sense of humor, candor, and her love of old Nashville. She'll make you laugh and then break your heart," adds Mike Luckett, HiFi Session Producer and Baggs Nashville Operations Manager.

Diaz's songwriting has been praised by Stereogum as a "perfect convergence of craftsmanship and fearless vulnerability." Her album Fatal Optimist, released via ANTI-, captures the raw, insulated energy of songs in their earliest stages of writing, while the companion Fatal Optimist (UN-unplugged) gives those songs a fuller, louder life with a band.

"These songs have two sides now," says Diaz. "One being the insular, raw, knee-jerk world of Fatal Optimist. In UN-unplugged land, I sat with some of my favorite players to date, and we fumbled through these songs together, letting a world build, and doing it in full color. With Fatal Optimist, my intent was to stay in those early stages of writing and capture that intense, insulated energy of active processing. With the 'UN-unplugged' versions, I feel a bit braver, now standing on two feet, ready to say it all quite a bit louder."
